But on the first flight it went MIA, a gust of wind took it into the woods. :smt021

The grandkids are coming over to look for it.

Nice video. We were out at the island the following weekend. Just like you guys we have been there and had the whole island to ourselves.

I predict that dog is going to eat your chopper one of these days. Don't turn your back or he'll get it.

Thanks for sharing the video.

and with that comment, i have a question. How safe are these things? If you hit a dog or a kid with the propeller, does the propeller stop or break, or does it leave a mark?

I was hoping to get another video this weekend focusing on Diesel (the dog) chasing the Phantom, but the wind was 20+. He is a chasing fool, but also smart enough to stay away from it. He will not get within 2 feet of it even when sitting on the ground, off.

As for how hard to fly, stupid easy! It is actually a Drone. http://www.dji.com/product/phantom-2 It has 3 modes of control that can be switched on the hand held unit, GPS/ATT, ATT, and MANUAL. The latter being just remote control, very crash-able! In either ATT (attitude mode) the basic orientation is controlled by a Laser Gyro and a digital compass. In GPS/ATT mode it knows not only where it is, it knows where it was, as in where it took off from and will return and land by itself if anything goes wrong. It will also hover and maintain its position, even in a wind, if you stop making control inputs.

The smoothness of the video is best in manual and least in GPS/ATT, so risk vs reward. If the props hit skin under power, I am sure there would be blood.

Hey MDH,

Great vid man love the audio. The Pup was hysterical we laughed all the way through.

I LOVE my Phantom 2 also! It was a breeze to learn how to use it. But the 30 degree temp in Connecticut these past few days has me a little concerned if it hits a tree or something, I'm sure it will shatter at those temps. MAN I can't wait for spring! Its going to be sweet taking pictures of the boat and not having to rely on someone else being around to do it for you. I'd better get a bigger external hard drive LOL.
