Wanted to bring the dink home to winterize and for storage. Didn't have a trailer for it, but did have a utility trailer that wasn't being used much. :)

Used
2 - 2x10x96 PT
1 - 2x4x96 PT
1 small box of screws
1 small box of nails with plastic washers
4 18x24 carpet remnants

Home Depot lady forgot to ring up the boards so total invested was $12. Yes, twelve dollars.

Cut the 2x10s down to 60 and 36 inches and 2x4s down to 16 with mitered end. Put a slight angle to the bunks and walla.

Cut a few slits to bottom boards so it would key into the gate which is folded into the trailer. The trailer is a 5'x8' with an overall length from gate to tongue being 11'. With the dink being 5'3"x11'2", I needed it to hang off the back, so I just folded the gate in.

Pretty happy with it. Also gives me a way to store the dink off the trailer if I need to haul some brush or something. And I can always put casters on it if I ever get a garage.

Overall pretty happy with it and just wanted to share.

Pretty snazzy. So will you just back that down the ramp and motor the dinghy on to it?

Yeah. That's the plan. We'll see what happens. I dont think I can back in far enough to float the dinghy on though. I had to make the bunks tall enough to clear the rails of the trailer. Worse case I have to hand carry the dink up the ramp a bit and put her on there.

Can't wait to hear about that. How much does your dinghy weigh? Ours is somewhere around 240lbs with the 4 stroke so not sure if something like this would work ...but I do love this as an option. Please post more pics once the dinghy is on.

I like the concept but the only thing I would suggest is to put in a couple of cross members from one side to the other to make sure the dinghy doesn't slide to one side or the other and collapse the support beam under that side. A few pieces of scrap would might make it a lot sturdier. Other than that, I like it.

Remember Karma... I'd go back and pay for those boards before you get a flat tire for being cheep... Just sayn.

Nice set up by the way.

I think it needs secured to the trailer... that's gonna float.

Mines easily 280-300# with the motor. Don't see how it went hold up.

Yeah. I have straps to secure it before I leave. Thanks.

Worked like a charm!

Mounted the motor back on her when I got home. Balances perfectly. Will make a good platform for winterizing and cleaning.

Only thing...I carted the dink up the dock. Will try launching via ramp next season.
