Anyone out there have or seen the St. Croix dingy systems in use? Does it work well? Does the boat swing and need additional straps installed? How well do they appear to be made? We are looking to add the Model 488 to the rear of our 420AC.

Any other system out there you have seen that will lift the dingy out of the water on the stern that you'd suggest looking into or know of someone whom has one installed?

I have the St. Croix arms on the back of my boat.
I dont know what the 488 is?
The ones I have are well made and work good.

The model 488 comes up typically from a buildt in swim platform or reinforced platform with arms that are ell shaped and go back out over the dingy. It has the ability to swing out and down then pull the dingy back up behind the boat.

Many thanks for your comments as I will probably order one for the back of our boat shortly.

Be sure you can get under the mounting location for a good size backing plate. They look similar to the ones I have with a different mount.
Good Luck with it.

I have them- they're removed most of the time, but you can see the stand-offs for them attached to my transom. Bases are bolted to the swim platform.

Yes, I secure it with another line to the davit arms to keep it from swinging. Motor stays mounted.

Hey @Gimme Time - I do have that system. I posted pics here:

The biggest pro is that when the dinghy is not on the boat I can completely remove the davits and have a pretty clean swim platform. Also even when the dinghy is on the boat I still have most of the real estate of my swim platform. The biggest con is how the dinghy swings back-and-forth if we are in heavy rolling seas… I’ve been pretty nervous about that before but when you are out to sea you adding some winch straps that do really hold the dinghy hard against the arms and take some of the strain off the actual davits and transfer it to the rear docking cleats.
