For you folks fabricating your own davits you may want to use 3/4 inch Marine Grade Polyethylene instead of the starboard. It's stronger, doesn't yellow, and has some give. I've used this material on my SeaRay for 12 years. There's not a mark in my dinghy. Also, make sure you use 316 grade stainless. Good luck to all of you and happy boating! This is how my project turned out. There is nothing on top of my swim platform. the davits slide into square tubes mounted under the swim platform.

Hi Art, I like your idea on using square mounting tubes on the underside of the swim platform so there are no toe stubbers on top. Unfortunately for some reason I cannot view your pictures. Can you post them again or send them to me? Thanks
I've been looking into which SS square tube sizes sleve into each other nicely, but have been unable to find anything in my area. Metal shops are suggesting I use 2 1/2" for the tube mounted to the underside of the platform. But I do not want it to look soo big. I saw in an earlier post you were going to try 1 1/2". What sizes did you end up using?

I made them. I bought 2 long hard rubber boat trailer rollers (12") and cut it into 1" pieces. I think the inner hole was 1/2". So I bought 1/2" SS Tubing and cut the tube long enough to accommodate the width of 2 wheels + davit arm. Then I put SS washers and a SS bolt through them.
