Looking to see what everyone does to support their dinghy covers, so rain water runs off. A friend told me his sticks his dock pole on the top of his outboard cowling and the other end on the bow of the inflatable and it works for him.

I tried it and granted the cover is a bit large, but it rolled right off into the dinghy. Trying a better fitting cover this weekend, but would like to get this figured out before rain hits.

Yes i put an extended boat hook from the engine throttle handle to the bow. Works great for me. Like a pup tent. Some water gets in. I have a battery operated pump from Harbor Freight $10, pump out excess, sun dries the rest quickly.if you look at avatar pic, i have the seat with a throw cushion on top in middle that supports the pole in middle. I kept the zodiac all winter on the rack shown with this method and had almost no water in it come spring.

Here is the cover I ordered. Very good fit. I use straps underneath the outboard and bow which keep it tight. They also sell support poles

I use a small traffic cone from depot lol

I’ll get a good cover when I sort out davits. Right now it just floats in the slip behind us

I bought my cover from Boat Covers Direct and was never happy with it. It just never fit right and needed several straps to simply stay in place. The one Blueone posted above looks better that what I received. Dock line rubbed a hole in it during a storm so need to get a new one.

Question is simply, what is the best cover for my 9.6' Achilles with motor?

I'm very happy with this, it goes over my 10' dinghy and motor as well. You might see if they offer a smaller size.

Not the best picture but shows you the coverage.

I use this method but instead of on the cowling i put it on the throttle handle. And slightly raise the handle. Stays in place just fine.

The 1st picture is my current dingy, the cover has a draw string built in that does a pretty good job and is super easy to install. No prop pole needed. The 2nd picture is our previous dingy and boat which had a cover that attached to the rub rail with clips all the way around. Looked nicer but was much harder to install and required a prop pole.

This thread brings back great memories!! This was from a time that @firecadet613 actually used to post about boats!!

@tc410 you feeling OK? @El Capitan isn't in this thread.

This was the solution... held up perfectly all season, comes apart and stores in the transom locker when we're onboard.
