Looking at imperfections, try carpenting your whole house! I laid almost 2000 square feet of 3/4" solid Brazilian Cherry flooring. The imperfections absolutely drove me crazy while I was doing the work, but now, some actually add some very nice character to the finished look.
I have a few other projects that I look at the same way. One is almost 20 years old. Now, I don't see the imperfections. Time heals all wounds.

After 14 coats coats of sprayed varnish, which you are not supposed to be able to spray, and hours and hours of block sanding and buffing, I know 2 things. One is where every imperfection in the cherry table is and the other is that I guard the table with weapons and will probably get several years worth of Christmas cards in the big house if it gets scratched.

BTW- the table mold I have is 33"x22"
