My 350 EB has a kidney shaped heavy wooden table that the previous owner really screwed up. What I'd like to know is are there any replacements out there similar to the molded plastic ones that I have seen in newer boats?
My part number is 612655
Would really like to replace it with something more modern looking.
Any suggestions?

Tell us what screwed up means.

Previous owner tried to use a colored varnish on the top to change from the light teak/like color to the darker cherry/like color and did a terrible job.
Finish cannot be removed and some of the edging is coming off.
Along with the fact the the table is very heavy and not as stable as I would like with only one stanchion.

I have a mold for the table that originally came in the late 90's Sea Rays

I could measure it if you like

Hey Rob
Thanks I'd appreciate that.
Going down to the boat tomorrow to do some work
Will get a picture and exact measurements.
What do you mean by a mold for a table?

Dan

when they make a fiberglass part there has to be a mold.

future parts can be made from the mold years later.

I made this mold from a original table from a 44EC I believe?

Rob
Just went to Sea Ray archives and a lot of the tables look very similar to mine. Newer ones might be a little more squared off but will look some more.
Any idea on year as this might narrow it down
Dan

point me in the direction of the aurora mold

this is not a kidney shaped table, its a rectangle table with rounded corners and a lip around the edge to keep stuff from flying off.

S-6 is number on diagram

I think I know which one you are talking about and not sure if square will work but would be interested in dimensions
Back in an hour or two
Thanks

its not square, its rectange, no cup holders built in, just a simple table, damm if I cant remember what it came in originally?

might have been a cockpit table because it was originally glass, not formica or wood.

this might be it:

We replaced our OEM table for a number of different reasons. I did not like the look or the price of either Sea Ray or aftermarket tables so I made one from cherry. When you make your own you can adjust the dimensions and shape to suite your own needs.

That is not the shape or table.
Ours is oblong/kidney shaped

Frank
That is the shape of mine
Mine has a removable post and the base stays permanent

Iwill post some pictures tomorrow after I get to storage are
Have seen same shape in molded plastic/acrylic to match countertops on other later model boats.

That is one of the changes I made when I replaced the original table. The fixed pedestals (there were 2) made it so that the cabinet area behind the table was not accessible unless you crawled over or behind the table....a generally bad design.

The new table has a moveable single pedestal so the table can be swiveled to get access behind it. I also slightly reduced the size of the table so it would seat as many but be more manageable.

just answering the original question- you asked "if there was something molded plastic", fiberglass table would be much better.

the table could be made from the imitation corian look of the sea ray countertops, or white, black, yellow, purple, whatever color you wanted.

wish2fish,

Thanks for the compliment. Woodworking has a curse attached to it. You do get some satisfaction out of a project that turns out, but you also know every imperfection and several ways you could have done it better.

I second that, Frank! Although I haven't done any woodwork on my Dancer (all plastic), every time I walk into a room I've worked on my eyes are automatically drawn to the flaws I know are there. Happens every time! :smt013
