I'm about to change my trim sensors on my 2006 DA280 with a single mount 496 mag while changing the bellows..
When looking at them it seem like they're different on the starboard/port side? On the port side it's the "thicker" trim sensor with three wires (smartcraft sensor, right?), on the starboard it's the thinner with two (?) wires.. I haven't found a replacement kit with one of each; is the only solution to buy one of each sets and then only use one sensor from each?

They are not the same thing. STB side is the trim sender that controls the trim guage. Port side is the trim limit switch that limits how far up the drive will trim.

Depends. If you have smart craft gauges and the trim is smartcraft, only one is used, the other is not used at all. On the 496 one tell is the start button on the shift handle.

Ah hopefully the SB is not used at all then; that would mean I wouldn't have to buy two separate replacement kits! I'll see if anyone knows for certain in the 280DA-thread. Thanks for your help!

Just did mine (Bravo 3) Have SmartCraft. One is a dummy.
Thanks! Since yours is the same year as mine I'm guessing we have the same setup.
Is there any way to tell if it's a dummy when everything is off? Is it even connected anywhere?
