I'm finally ready to step up in size from my 280 to either the 330 or 340. I'm confused, however, because I want a relatively late model and I think they changed the design around or discontinued one or the other.
The only thing I'm concerned about is I want the double helm seat AND the single companion seat....no lounge seating for the companion side.
Can someone explain the chronological changes and what I might find...with the three chairs....in a 2004-2008 year model?
Are (were) they the same boat?

2003and1/2-2008 340DA
2008-2009 330DA

They were not the same boat.

They both have the seating arrangement you are looking for- (dual helm-single port seat)

Also.....the 330 became the 340 in 1999. In 1999 both were made. The 1999 340 was a bit wider, and the a year or 2 later the beam went to 12'. In 2001 midyear, the 8.1L was introduced.

Look at the beam of the boat to figure out what became what. This is my understanding:
The 300 became the 310 > 10.6 beam
The 310 became the 330 > 11.0 beam
The 320 became the 350 > 11.5 beam
The 340 became the 370 > 12.0 beam

Of course, the styling changed significantly for the 320/340 to the 350/370.

It depends on what year you are referring to. I am pretty sure this is correct.

The 02-06 300 was replaced with the 07-09 310
The 07-09 310 was renamed the 330 in 2010 (with few changes other than price)

The 320 was replaced with 08-09 330DA
The 08-09 330DA was replaced with the 2010 350 > 11.5 beam

The 03and1/2-08 340 was replaced with the '09 350
The '09 350DA was renamed the 370 in 2010 (with few changes other than price)

Woo hoo! My boat grew 3 feet in 4 years! At that rate I'll have a 40 footer in another 8-9 years. Thanks Searay!

Do any of these mindboggling models have mattreses in the vee berth or are they all cushions? Any other comments on the vee berths in general?
Oh one other question: did any of these have electronic shift controls or were they all cables?
Thanks, guys for the info.

They all have a fixed bed in the V-Berth.

On the shifters, it will vary by boat and how it was ordered.

I *think* DTS came in as an option in 08 and was standard by 09 and up. This may vary by boat model.

One of the cool new features on the 350 is an electric bed. (Not sure how many other models have this) The bed tilts up and slides in for watching TV and gives more room in the cockpit. When you want to lay flat, the bed slides out into the galley area by about 1 foot. Not sure if they are using cushions or a mattress. I really liked that change. The bed on my 320 is barely adequate. I'm 5'11 and my feet come to the bottom. The bed on the 340 is bigger.

So....perhaps Sea Ray should badge their boats by "Beam". The 340/370 sholuld be renamed the "12.0".

The guys in Knoxville are reading this and thinking, "Why are they so confused?"

Don

My 2008 330 has DTS (standard) and electric V-berth bed (uses a thick pad) all standard. Beam is 11.5'. This boat is now called the 350 in 2010.

John, I gather there were not that many of these made, before they were turned into 350's?
I've heard nothing but good things about the 340 in general, but I have to admit, I am a sucker for gadgets and little luxuries here and there. Doesn't the 2008 330 have popout seats in the transom locker that sit out over the swim platform as well?
(remember, I am not in the market for a new boat, but trying to sort out the features in a used late model)

The 2008 330 has the rumble seat... as does mine :smt038

You lot are lucky, over here my 280 is badged as a 315 and the 340 has been badged as a 375 for years it had me confused until I found the sight and became clear. It would appear we name it by overall length and you name it by waterline length or length less the dive platform. Its useful if you get charged by the length for birthing I guess.

For me the 340/375 is the next boat for me;
bigger bed
more open interior.
bigger beam (12') more stable.
duel seats at the helm and a single to port.
It will have diesel engines (in my case) and will travel twice the distance for the $ spent compaired to my 280/315!
I'll still be able to keep it on a launch trailer minimising maintainance for no real effort.

At first I liked that feature, then I realized that you loose that storage locker. I use that locker to store my shore power cord, 3 fenders, dock lines, water hose, and sometimes even my canvas. Where do store all that stuff when that locker is used for a flip out seat?

But where do you store your rear facing, swim platform mounted, 2 person lounge chair?

Might I suggest going to the Sea Ray website? You can see pictures and specs of all late model Sea Rays.

My shore power cord is stored inside the shore power receptacle locker on the swim platform. My fenders/ropes store under the rear cockpit seat (other side of the flip down seat on the swim platform). Seems to be adequate
However, I seldom use the flip down seat on the swim platform.

Personally, I am really suprised that the lawyers at SR allowed the rumble seat in the first place. Unless it has a kill switch that doesn't all the engine to run with it deployed, I would anticipate the first lawsuit to come any day now. Picture someone sitting on it to oberserve a skier or tube, go from a standstill to WOT....oppps there they go, right into the props.

Is the rumble seat a potential "Cool Mod" for 320 and 340 owners? It comes in handy for when you let your impellers fail and you can see smoke pouring out of the bilge. Ha Ha Ha
