Hello,I currently have a Searay Sundancer 268 and have been looking to buy a larger older boat. found one I want to buy.The broker said it is a Searay Sundancer 420 but the boat says 440 on it, have asked many people what the difference is and have many different answers. Can anyone please finally answer this for me so that I can purchase this boat with the knowledge I need:smt021

Early 420's and 440's are basically the same boat. 89-91 were 420's and 92 up were called 440's. They are great boats. We had one, and loved it. Happy hunting.

After 1991 Sea Ray re-badged it's boats. The 270 became the 290......310 became the 330......etc. It's the same boat.

Thanks , so the boat is really a 1992? Im a little confused.

It could be that the boat is a 1992 model which would have the 440 decal on it but it may have been built in late 1991 which would show a 91 in the HIN. Or someone changed the decals. Mark

Would not surprise me that someone restickered it with a 440 badge. More people did that than you realize. Go with the hull number. Great running boat with the Cats....

We had this same discussion on another thread regarding a 1995 370DA. The boat had a 1994 HIN but it was definately a 1995 model because Sea Ray made a major change to the 370 in 95. That's my reason for the above post. It could still be that someone changed the decals on your 42/44 but that was definately not the case with the 370. Mark
