Diesel Airsep pre-filters

Dominic, Frank-

Perhaps I'm just conservative, but I don't think this is a product offered by either Caterpillar or Walker for marine engines.

I have seen them used in off road and dusty application on construction and farm equipment. In the type boats we own, the enviornment is just not that dirty and is almost dust free. So, I just can't see much if any added value, particularly considering that we service our boats at about 1/2 the recommended service interval anyway.

My other concern is reduction of air flow. I'd like to see the air flow specifics of an EOM Caterpillar air filter, the Walker Airsep (even though it comes on Cat engines, it is not OEM but is installed by the marinizer), and the Walker Airsep with a sock over it.

Frank,
That makes sense....not much dust on the water..

But it may keep all those Chesapeake spiders out of the combustion chambers...

There is absolutely no way you guys have as many bugs up there as we do in Florida................!

And we do everything in our power to keep it that way....just look at all the chemical plants along the NJ Turnpike....if you were a bug...would you want to live here..... .....except of course for the secret spot...loaded with bugs, alligators and pirates....

Dominic,
I cleaned the airsep elements on the 420 as part of winterization. I am positive that they had never been cleaned before. I had no air flow reduction that the rinky-dink gauge could indicate, and they cleaned up quite easily with the K&N cleaning kit and the hose, spraying from inside the element out as prescribed in the K&N kit instructions.
I'd save the couple bucks for marine diesel fuel, my friend!

Dominic,
Don't forget the mined entrance and the blow guns that the natives on the shore fire at any unsuspecting boat that anchors in the secret spot without paying the toll! Man I am glad I don't have to deal with that any longer!! :smt101

Hey I visited the "spot" from the land side last weekend in my new land yacht a 04 Yukon Denali XL (Ebay special as usual), any way I am here to report that the government is building all new land based naval guns to defend the spot next summer from anoying boaters trying to bother the Governor while he is kicking back at his shore house. In case you did not know it that additional tax you now pay in Jersey on dry cleaning, lawn mowing and limo's is all intented to fund these installations.

I also almost hit a sasquatch running across the road while leaving. Very very dangerous place to go, even in the winter. Stay away! keep out!
