I filled up my tanks for the winter, will still use the boat year-round but over the winter months not nearly so often so the fuel tends to sit in the tanks quite a bit longer. Our Marina has Valvtect brand diesel fuel at the pumps, so that's what the tanks are filled with. The Valvtect advertises that it has additives but I wasn't sure if I should still add yet more additive. Several of the other diesel owners at the marina suggested I do just to be on the safe side, but I noticed on cans of Valvtext brand "Heavy Duty/Marine Diesel Fuel Additive" that it says "DO NOT OVERTREAT". Is adding any more Valvtect additive to Valvtext overtreating?

Thanks,
Jason

I don't see how/where I can delete me thread so I'll post my own reply - I was thinking more about it and decided the best thing to do would be to call Valvtect and ask them directly. Bottom line, according to the guy I spoke to, if the Marina is certified (which means they are also tested to ensure they are adding the additive) then there is no reason to add stabilizers beyond what comes in the fuel.

Regards,
Jason

If you go to the valvtech website you can find out if your marina is current on their certification. Search by zip code and it should be listed if it is.

Yep - did that, it's definitely certified. Thanks!
