When you dewinterize, can I also get oil changed, or is this a completely different process. The dewinterizing will be on water if that helps. (My first boat)

It depends on what was done when it was winterized. Typically oil changes (engine and drive) are done at the time of winterizing and non-tox AF is used so there really is no "de-winterizing".

But, engine oil/filter can be changed in the water... but pull the fuse for the auto-bilge pump (if equipped) to avoid possibly pumping oil into the water. Drive oil can only be changed out of the water.

Just get yourself real familiar with the setup if you do not know what was done during the winterizing. If hoses were taken off or anything by-passed you will need to reconnect. Otherwise for the de-winterizing the engines and relaunching involves making sure the plug is back in and sea cocks are open/closed as needed, hooking up the battery or installing if removed/disconnected and turning the key.

Hello,

I am trying to de-winterize my boat for the first time. the marina did the winterization (also my first) and they want to charge me the same amount ($300+) to de winterize, which I thought was a bit too much.
I am new to boating, and while I located two disconnected water intake hoses and reconnected them respectively to the two strainers (I believe one to the AC and one to the generator), I am not sure what the engine needs in terms of de winterization. I remember the service manager mentioning something about plugs when I asked about how to de-winterize in the fall last year (when they winterized the boat).
I am wondering if the process that is ahead of me is easy, and what does it entail.

thanks

it mostly depends on how much they left for the spring. Ideally whoever winterized the boat out all the hoses back together, tightened the clamps, and put your block drain plugs back in. If the facility was banking on a $300 spring commissioning fee then many of those items may still be disconnected.

Thanks. I agree, I get a sense that they left a lot to be done now. I need to find those drain plugs on this engine, as a starter. Batteries were not touched, and as far as I can tell, the only disconnected hoses are the ones I have already reconnected.
