Detroit River Events

I was just going over my calendar and planning for the different events on the water this year and wanted to see what everybody else has on their agenda. In the Metro Detroit area we have the Red Bull Air Races coming up next weekend. Its a really cool event to watch on the water or land and I plan on takin my son and camping out for at least one of the 4 days. There are also concerts at a waterfront venue (Chene park, see my post elsewhere on the forums) all weekend. The following weekend is River days. Its more of a downtown festival that just takes place on the riverfront. My plan is to get a slip at Tri-centennial marina down there and then just have the wife bring the car down so we can go back and forth. I have a break of about 3 weeks and then we have the Gold Cup boat races across from Belle isle. Now these are GREAT if you like this kind of thing. Big boats, big rooster tails and big noise! Once again, I’ll be tryin to find a spot to anchor or hang out... This is just the start of my plans but I’m actually feeling a bit proud of my city cuz it looks like we’re really trying to push more river related activities. The boat races have been here since..well actually I think they started here. The air race and Riverdays tho are fairly new with the air races just going into their second race here. Hopefully the city will see that having only one municipal marina in the downtown area just aint enough!

I will be at the Gold Cup races with a group of boats. We are staying at Keen's again this year.

I know I'll be there on Saturday for sure but I'll be on the bridge side. Definitely keep me posted and we can link up.

I'm working on Harbor Hill but I was also thinking about volunteering to be one of the rescue boats. My boat is just small enough to be able to get around good. We'll see tho

Ok just got the slip at Harbor Hill for friday and saturday. Sunday is tentative. PM me your contact info and I'll give you a shout when were down there.
