Dave's awesome idea for a bilge mounted bracket for his cockpit table and post has inspired me to create one for my new 240DA. I copied Dave's design and used Starboard instead of wood. Both pieces were fabricated from one 24" x 27" x 1/2" piece of Starboard I purchased at the local BoatersWorld. The cost for the Starboard and package of #8 x 1 1/4" stainless screws came to $ 70.00.
I've posted the pics from the assembly stage as well as a few from the finished installation. I know we have quite a few new 240DA owners here that might be interested so I have made a list of the dimensional data for all the pieces. The Starboard is a pleasure to work with using ordinary woodworking tools.
Thanks again to Dave for the inspiration.

I think you need to change your signature to "It's here" and not coming in the spring.

Great job on the table storage. Send a few pictures to SR they might incorporate it in the next run of 240DA's.

Thanks for the reminder!
My wife said the same thing, but I'd have to split the royalties with Dave.

Great looking mod.! Where is the table storage on the new 240's? (From the factory) :smt017

That is a great job. So, the table does not have any play and sits firm in that holder? What if you hit a wave, will it bounce out of it?

Nice design, Dave. :smt038
Very nice job building it, JG.
The craftsmanship is first rate.

RiverRat, just like on the 260's there is no dedicated storage. You can fit it in the cockpit cabinet beow the sink but it is very clumsy and you have to remove the cooler everytime you need to get to it.

Propagator, I designed it for a snug fit because the Starboard will not mar the table finish. The height turns out to be perfect. The table misses the engine hatch insulation by 1", so the table is well protected, and is in no danger of coming loose.

you do have skillz.looks great.now the dimentions so we can become skilled like you and dave s.

thanks,eddie

All pieces were made using 1/2" Starboard.

For the pole base I removed the brackets from the cabin, they were mounted under the starboard seat cushion. The brackets are 4" wide so I made that base 5"w x 16"l and used a 1/4" roundover bit to dress the top edges.

The table holder base measures 4"w x 24"l (make sure to measure your space beforehand) yours may vary slightly based on your boats options. My boat has the vacuuflush option which makes things a bit tight, your boat may have more room. The two side pieces measure 5 1/4"h x 20"w the two end pieces measure 5 1/4"h x 2 1/2"w This leaves an opening 1 1/2" wide which is the width of my table. The table should fit snugly but should not bind. Use your table as a template as the width may vary slightly. It's helpful to clamp everything up with the table in place to help finalize your fit. For the two angled supports cut two pieces 1 1/2"w and about 8" long, cut a 45deg angle on one end of each and dry fit them in while the table is set in place and centered. The pieces should be a few inches too long. Make a pencil line flush with the top of the table holder, this will give you the correct angle for the cut and will leave these pieces flush with the top. To finish I used a 1/4" roundover bit to dress the top edges of the base piece and I used a 1/8" roundover bit to soften the top inside edges so the table wouldn't catch an edge on the way in or out.

I thought the design was so neat, I did it myself! thanks for the detailed instructions! I am very happy with how it turned out.

How long of a screw is used to secure to the hull. Better question, how thick is the hull. I have a ton of space in my engine comp and have been considering how to mount some sort of storage.

Very nicely finished
Just be sure that table leg never comes off the bracket by itself
You wouldn't want piece of metal pipe being loose in bilge with engine running or landing on top of batteries

The screws attaching the base to the bilge floor are #10 x 1-1/4" stainless steel.
Debt-icated, glad to help out and thanks again to Dave S for the inspiration. I wonder if Eddie decided to make these?
