Anybody have any good suggestions for replacing my original Sea Ray Lowrance thru hull depthfinder (2 1/4" round gauge)?

I'm wondering if a fish finder is a better alternative than a simple depth finder. I did notice that some FF's don't have a decimal place which is a disadvantage in very low water. I need to know the difference between say 2.5 and 3.4 feet (I assume all would display 3 feet).

I'm on the south shore of Long Island and lot's of low water exists. I'm thinking that some fish finders may look forward perhaps showing me very low water before it's too late. True?

The boat is in the water so a "shoot thru the hull" transducer is desirable.

Any input is appreciated.

I just replaced ours with a Raymarine ST40 and transducer. It integrates with my existing RL series chartplotter display. The thing is it does not require a DSM module and all told installed with a haul out/in about $ 400.00
