I had a new thru hull transducer installed and I just connected the wire and my depth reading blinks. When I goto the split frequency screen the depth does not blink. Also I had the Garmin adapter for my old transducer and the plugs are different. The adapter has 8 holes with metal in them. The new one has 8 holes but only 7 have metal.
