depth finder - transducer

I recently acquired an 08 185 Sport and am loving it so far

However it does not have a depthfinder so I purchased a Garmin 541s and am now wondering what transducer to buy.

Does anybody have any good experiences with a shoot-thru-hull transducer such as the Airmar 79?

This is my first post here so I am hoping for some helpfull responses

I had shoot thru transducers on my 24' and the boat I have now, both worked great. If you don't already have a hole in the bottom for a transducer I personally would not consider anything besides a shoot thru.

I just installed a 546s that came with the depth and temperature transom mount transducer. Very easy install, but requires a hole cut above the water line to run the wire through that connects to the GPS and two little screws.
