Democracy is dead

Isn’t this the tiki bar, a non-boating area of the board?

Stop, breath in deeply, now exhale - repeat until you feel better

I read the articles and the republican does sound like a complete moron - a government worker, what do you expect. However, even the democrap in her district agrees that the votes are legit

It is painful, but the math does not add-up. Better for benefits to be cut now rather than later. It would be much painful down the road.

No government employee should have the right to collective bargaining - money flows from the hard working government employee to the crooked union to the crooked democrap party, a complete conflict of interest

Could be worse, you could be living in Illinois where the poor teachers here have one of the most underfunded pensions in the country

The weakness in the system is human error and deceit, it doesn't have a margin of error in the hundreds of votes. Sadly our major retailers can't secure our credit card data. Not a good precedent. MM

I wonder if this was an electronic or paper ballot?

BTW: I have far greater confidence in major retailer credit card data. Such companies have a strong incentive to maintain secure data (corporate reputation in addition to liability)

See I told you so, we agree again. MM

Its a 3 way mix.

I can only speak for the ward in the small town where I live.

I voted.

We have one electronic machine. Two people can vote at one time, one on each side. This one machine cannot process everyone when there is a large turnout. When I got there this line was very long.

Next they have a ballet where you fill in an area with a black marker. After you fill it out you walk over to a machine and you feed your ballot into a machine like you feed a vending machine with a dollar bill. The machine scans your ballet and keeps track of the scans. I was in this line.

As I stood in line they ran out of ballets.

Finally they made photo copies of a page someone put together. You filled out the page they made and stuffed it into an old wooden box with a padlock on the side door and a slit on the top to stuff in your page that wound need to be hand counted later.

If you want to vote again you go to the back of the end of the line or if you don’t want to vote again you go home.

I thought so....... We have Kings and we have peasants. I'm a peasant. that's how I feel. I have to work every hour for every dollar. I don't cheat, steal and rob from the peasants for my dollar.

"It's common to see discrepancies between unofficial Election Night tallies and the election results that are certified weeks later, because election officials get a more accurate count during that time, experts say.
“Most of the time when we see races decided by 10 percentage points, no one pays attention to a stray 7,000 votes,” says Charles Franklin, a political scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. “It’s not unusual to see a change of half a percent statewide to a full percent statewide between the unofficial results and those that are certified two weeks later.”
The votes reported Thursday moved the unofficial results by about 0.5 percentage point. This case is less disconcerting than some other close races in recent history, in which discrepancies were harder to explain, says Professor Franklin."

From WSJ "Best of the web" Bold highlights mine

"The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports, the Waukesha County clerk announced yesterday that she had erroneously omitted the Brookfield results from the unofficial returns she reported to the media Tuesday night. She caught the error during canvassing, a routine double-checking of vote totals. "The new totals give 10,859 more votes to Prosser and 3,456 more to Kloppenburg," the paper reports."

No official results were changed, but rushed "unofficial results" to satisfy the media were erroneous, these were corrected during "routine double-checking". I do not see any credible reports of fraud as confirmed by "Ramona Kitzinger, the Democrat on the Waukesha County Board of Canvassers, says she is "satisfied [that the new numbers] are correct" and that there has been no manipulation of the data."
