Searching for a 2004 - 2006 340 or 360 Sundance w/twin T-496 Magnum MPI, 5.0 KW generator

Oars for now!
I've searched this subject/topic without result. If its here, please direct me.

I'd heard that Sea Rays had delamination or separation of materials in the walls in the engine compartment. Not sure if it was resulting dry rot from fiberglass lay up that simply didn't hold up to age or...

Is it true that earlier than 2000 - like from 1995 to 1999 had lots of this goin on?

Hopefully someone will chime in, we have several of these model years on our dock and I have not heard of anyone talking about this issue. Several of the larger boats 330’s and such stay in the water all year long. We are on the river so I am referring to fresh water boats.

If you have searched without results, you probably have your answer!

Not sure what "walls in the engine compartment" are, but if you are talking about the bulkhead, they are plywood that is gell coated. Delamination of the gelcoat would only occur if there was water getting in some how. Not something I have heard of in those periods.

Are you talking about something similiar to this? I've found out that it's not too unusual for the engine compartment floor. Never heard of it on the sides however. http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/help-whats-going-on-in-my-engine-compartment.43757/

Per the thread you referred to... not sure... but it could be.

Originally being from the Great Lakes area, there seemed to be a rash of that era boat that had dry rot problems in the bilge. Could have been in the 1980 or 1990 boats. Not that sure of which era. But am out looking at 2000 to 2006 280 Sundances in the southwest and just doing the research, attempting to NOT make a costly mistake.

Just get a survey done by a well known marine surveyor. It is always worth the money and usually pays for itself in the final price negotiations. Even if it doesn't .......piece of mind on the purchase is priceless.
