default sorting

I think when you navigate to "Forums" the posts should be initially sorted by most recent posts. This way new threads/posts will get more views. As it is now, the sorting seems to be random and you need to click "sort by" to see most recent posts.

I am not sure I follow you. If you click New Posts - 24 hours or 48 hours they are done by latest posting. If you click Forums and go into a forum they are done by the latest posting, is yours not that way?

I get new to old in every forum except for winterizing....there it goes old to new and I always have to resort....I think the folks from the south sabotaged it..

That's it, it's only Winterizing the posts come up random. I noticed it because I started a thread then couldn't find it until I sorted by most recent posts. But I guess there's more important things up here in the north to worry about though.....like not boating for five endless snow shoveling months.....sob sob whimper

mine appear to sort correctly. I checked my userCP and I didn't see a setting in there so I don't know why it is doing it correctly. Like Wesly I use the navigation link that say "New Posts - 24 Hours" and it will bring up the most recent posts at the top irreguardless of what forum they are from.

For those looking to set a preference on the thread sort options try the following.

Click the UserCP tab on the top of the page click on edit options then scroll down to Thread Display options and select your preferences.

Thread Display mode has “linear newest first.”:smt024

It works for me

There was no effect.

Please make each forum display the topic w/ the most recent activity first.

The two forums I've found that instead display using increasing alphabetical order are: "Electrical Stuff" and "Winterizing".

For both of those forums, when a new reply / topic is posted, it is required to first scroll down to the bottom of the page, to the Display Options section, then hit the Sorted By drop-down and change that from the default of: "Thread Title", to: "Last Post Time". Next repeat the process, changing Sort Order from: "Ascending", to: "Descending". Lastly the Show Threads pushbutton must be depressed. (How depressing).

There may be other forums w/ this "feature".

This is a duplicate of a message sent to the Forum Administrator, using the Contact Us link, located on the bottom of the home page a while ago. No reply to that...

The "contact us" method goes to me. I just tested it and its fine. I did not receive a message from you. I am not sure I understand your question about scanning the site faster. All you need to do is click on the link for activity in the last 24 or 48 hours to see all recent activity.

I n regards to this thread - I fixed the sort order in Winterizing.

Thanks for the tip on the Qlinks - Quick Links - Today's Posts. That is the fastest way to scan for activity.

Thanks for fixing the "Winterizing" forum default topic sort order.

The others, like "Electrical Stuff" and ClubSeaRay.com Suggestions could also benefit from that change, as they are still default sorted alphabetical by title. Other forums may be too.

Did you check the overflow bucket for extra ones and zeroes? My initial request might be mixed in there.
