Deck table

OK here we go....

pole length 30 3/8 " long......

Think maybe the the table post from '10 260SD 25" is to drastic? thats over 5" shorter

Not sure - it's tough to say without trying it. Take a piece of cardboard (or something lightweight) and hold it 5" lower than your current table. Feel it out. In the end, as long as you and Pat are happy, that's all that matters, you know?

OK.. will do next time we're out at the boat

Dennis

Where would i get another post that size???

We like our cockpit table up just about all the time, and we also felt that it was too tall. I could not find one that would fill the bill, so I cut 3 1/2" out of mine last year and welded it back together. The tubing that you need to fit inside the splice is 2" OD.

That would need to be done by a specialty weld shop....i surmise,

how do you like it now???????? any pics??

thanks

Bill, if you're having trouble sourcing the pole I can get it for you right from Sea Ray - maybe even aftermarket to save a few $$.

Sorry, no pics. We like it, the 3 1/2" seems just right.
First I cut 2" out and that didn't seem like enough so I cut another 1 1/2" and that was good. The leg is not smooth, it has "ribs" on it (don't know if yours is the same) so after welding and grinding, I had a "ring" around where the splice is and it was noticable as a repair, (at least to me) but after a little more work and painting with an "aluminum" color paint, It looks fine. I cut it so that the splice would be near the top and thought that the table would "hide" the repair, which it kind of does, but I actually use it with the repair "down" because the tubing that I used inside the splice was a heavy wall tubing that added quite a bit of weight to the leg.

If you can get a shorter leg (5") you may be better to remove the socket on the table and add a 1 1/2" spacer to gain height back. Just a thought.
