Does anyone know why the deck table on the 310 is so high??

I'd love to cut 3" off the post and bring it down a little, but the admiral says NO because there must be a reason its so high

I am sure the only reason is because someone at Sea ray thinks it is the optimum height for most people to use and be able to scoot around it. Mine feels just right.

You can cut it to any length you want, your comfort is the only thing that will be affected. Perhaps the PO replaced the OEM pole and it is the wrong height?

Maybe do an internet search and look for adjustable poles? They do make them...

Bill,

Double check before you do any cutting. I'm pretty sure you've got a tapered pole. Can't cut that. Might be able to get a different length, though.

Yep, Lazy Daze is right about the taper.

I'm not sure if you have the same situation, but I was able to pick the desired size leg between cabin table and cockpit table. I don't recall 100% but I think that one in the cabin has longer leg, which is better while the shorter one I used for the cockpit.

Thanks...My first thought was that the height of the table was because not touch the cushion when lifting the engine hatch.....

Bill,

I'm not trying to be smart, but the table may not be high, rather the seats may be low. The seats on our 280 are definitly shorter than what would be found on standard chairs. In the case of our transom bench seat it appears to be a result of the geometry necessary to allow the seat to fold up against the transom.

This by the way is a trick restaurants some times use. By having chairs that are an inch, or so, short the customer can sit in the chair for only so long before it starts to get uncomfortable. Usually just in time to turn the table over to the next set of guests!

Maybe so about the bench seat....its low....YES....

Take the post to a fab. shop. Have them remove 3" out of the middle, insert a pipe into the post for stability & backing, re-weld it back together, buff & polish ... done.

GOOD IDEA

Maybe i'll try first to find a shorter pole somewhere out there...

Do you have a similar post for the salon? I know that the post for the salon and the one for the cockpit on my boat are of different lengths.

Have 2 longer ones below...they look longer any way.

Bill,

How long is your cockpit table leg? There's a 250DA in my showroom - if that one is shorter, then you can just order that from your dealer.

Great.....I go to the boat tomorrow [monday].then i will measure it....i can take the table off the bases and measure the exact size of the pole...

can you do the same?? remove the pole from the bases and then measure???

Sure. It should be the same, but no problem. We're measuring the bases' hole, right?
