I'd like to mount a flag pole socket to the stern edge but as you can see I have no railing etc there. My question is, what type of screw would I use to secure the flush mount socket without worrying about it stripping? I had a bow rail mount pull out on my 260 and I never could get it fixed.

Thanks!!!

If you got a good 3/4" or more of glass, screws are fine. Otherwise, I would thru-bolt.

Do you have a better area to mount it on one of the stern corners?

Not sure how thick the glass is our what material is below. Surely screws would be ok but I don't want to risk damage or water intrusion.

Take a look underneath before you drill. You'll know how thick it is once you drill the hole. If it turns out to be too thin, then thru-bolt. There's lot's of places that are plenty thick - you can just about tell by knocking with your knuckles.

The screws will seal - no worries about water intrusion. Just to be safe, put a bit of silicone in the screw hole and around the hole for the mount - if you go with a flush mount - as opposed to an upright socket.
