Deal of the day! Shell Rotella T4 @ Costco

I know that we all just winterized our boats, including oil changes. But while at Costco today (here in the mid-Atlantic), they had 3-1 gallon Shell Rotella T4 15W40 for $29.99. That's after an instant $10 off at the cash register. Boils down to $10/gallon. That's the best price that I have seen in my short tenure as a diesel mechanic

Good price but can you use a multi weight in your engines?

Yes. That is the recommended.

Yep. I have used the Rotella before. Normally use the Delo 400. Engines are 1980s 305s. Since they are always under heavy load, I want something robust.

Yes, I’ve used Rotella 15w40 in gas motors, good stuff.

I used straight 30 in my last 2 boats, and they were 5.7’s. I was very happy with the Rotella.

In the current boat which has 7.4’s I have been using synthetic blend.
