Yesterday I headed down to Seattle's Shilshole Marina which is just outside the Chittenden Locks which connects Lake Washington to Puget sound. I had heard that the "Wizard" from Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch" was heading through the locks so by the time I knew I could get down there they would be just heading out near Shilshole.

To mu surprise they weren't just passing by but tieing up to the pier I was going to take a couple pictures from.
I assisted them tieing up to the pier took a couple pictures and headed back to work. It was kind of cool. It was pretty foggy, but with fog comes no wind, so as they head up to Alaska to begin the King Crabbing season they should have, at least for a few hours a nice smooth trip.

Todd,

Since you are boatless, why don't you go be a greenhorn for a season with them...

Looks like they got a shiney new paint job. Fishing boats on the east coast sure don't look that nice.

I went to high school with the Hanson brothers from the Northwestern and worked briefly fueling these boats rght after I graduated High School, so I probably could get a green horn gig, but I have a job, the heat works in my house and don't think leaving the Admiral alone with the twins for 2 months would be a good life "move"

Awww.. c'mon Todd! I want to see the episode where you earn your jacket!!!!

Actually, now that I think of it, a few months of that kind of "boating" might make you consider making your boatless status permanent!!!

Cheers,

Bill

To be honest Bill, If I were offered a spot and could swing 2 months away with my boss, I may be able to earn enough to pay for the next Boat?

bunch a' sissies those guys.

I'll let 'em know Ken :)

The Captain of the Cornillia Mary (sp) and the Time Bandit were at a local radio station this morning.

Apparently the Local Hard Rock Casino is opening a new resturant and will be servering exclusivly crab from the deadliest catch boats.

I think if I could convince my boss to give me 2 months off, I may do it. It could reap me enough $$$ to pay for the next boat. Alaska is Beautiful, but I was there in June. The Bering Sea is a completely different beast.

Very cool Todd!!! If I am not mistaken the guy in the third picture leaning over the rail is the one that got hurt last year (maybe cut finger that had to get stiches).

I have to go see when the new season starts and DVR it.

Phil Harris is the Skipper of the Cornelia Marie. He lives about 10 minutes from me and has a few adults pops at the Pub I go to occasionally.(I haven't met him yet)

The Skippers of the Time Bandit Andy and Jonathan Hillstrand. I think they live in the Midwest.

The new season won't air until April. They start fishing Oct 15th and the season runs until Jan 15th. With the new quota system, the dates are extended from the old days,

Todd, that is just too cool.... thanks for the photos!

I recall this past season that one had to trade off being captain of the ship because the other had to go back to their farm in the midwest; horse ranch, or something?? I thought that was interesting, being crab fisherman in the NW and yet living in the midwest.

Hey I thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead.
We saw the Northwestern, famous on the Deadliest Catch show this last weekend with my wife and kids coming home.
She's moored at Pacific Fishermen's repair facility in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA.

Anyway she looked all spruced up.........
