First new thread here since buying my 2006 38DA almost one year ago. Still ticking through all the minor issues that were neglected by the previous owner. So far, love the boat though! I noticed towards the end of the season last year, the port side battery was getting a little weak. The bow thruster would really drag it down quickly. And the alternator did not seem to be able to get up to 14 V unless I gave it a little juice over idle. This year, it fails to even start the port engine. So I replace all four batteries, since they are all the same unknown vintage. Prior to this, I noticed the refrigerator in the salon had quit working once the port battery went kaput, and on the main panel in the salon, the battery voltage was reading 0 V (technically it only goes down to 8V reading) on the switch on the starboard side, however I am thinking this is flip-flopped wired from the factory, because I know it was the port side engine batteries that were going bad. Be And the refrigerator is on the port side Breaker panel. Here's my troubleshooting so far, all power reads good everywhere, except at the DC voltage at the main panel in the salon. When I turn the ignitions on at the main panel, the DC voltage reads fine, approximately 14 V on both sides. When I turn the ignition off, the starboard reading drops to zero. I left ignitions on overnight with short power on, and the fridge is running nice and cold now. I'm turning ignitions off and I will report back tomorrow to see if the fridge is back to being warm. Any ideas? I've checked all breakers that I could including in the engine compartment.
