Daylight Saving Time

What a bunch of whining! Guys that pride themselves on taking care of their boats are crying like babies over changing the time on a clock twice a year, and it is done in off season.

So this incredibly difficult job of changing of the clocks is not worth a summer of an extra hour of sunlight after typical work hours?

Not whining or crying - Also would like the extra hour of sun light all year long. Also don't give a crap about people in other countries complaining about our time shift either. I would also like to do away with winter while we're at it. I think the cold is too much and we should be able to use our boats all of the time everywhere. And since it get's a little too hot in the summer we need to pass that green house bill so we can fix the temperature and make it more relaxing for everyone. I think I need a trophy or a sticker at the very least to boost my confidence a bit so I can keep on whining some more ... Sheesh some people.

Maryland just passed permanent DST but only if the Feds do it. Unlike Arizona (big state) or Hawaii (isolated) it makes no sense to do it alone when it’s less than an hour to any boarding states.

Then you could leave and get to another state at the same time you left. :D

When I threatened one of my clocks with a vax mandate it started running ;)
So I have an “auto” clock on the deck syncs with the national time machine, never have to worry about it except the battery, nice after too many Makers Marks the night before a time shift! ;)

I am with you brother, grew up in south Los Angeles, Navy, spent most of my days in San Diego, 2 years in Guam,(you wanna talk hot) 2 years in Groton CT, OMFG told the Queen “when it’s colder outside than it is in the freezer we are out of here” I’m good with eliminating winter BTW and love lighter later, (see previous post). Just me, my .02

It sounds good but didn’t work out in the ‘70’s. Was popular until they did it, then most people changed their minds. Maybe we can make it work now.

I barely remember it, it was ‘74, I was 19. They tried it as a way to save energy. It apparently was inconclusive because people were cutting back with the oil embargo, gas rationing, inflation etc so couldn’t tie the slight savings to full time DST.
Some argued to give it more time but Washington decided to go back to the clock switching because, like I said the public didn’t like it. Looks like we might get to see what we all think of it being dark at 8:00 in the morning for a few months in the winter again. The biggest resistance was from parents who didn’t want their kids walking to the bus stops in the dark.
Probably effects people on the edges of the time zones the most, they may have the strongest opinions. I don’t much care.
I know that in early December the sun rise in western NY is 7:20ish. This would put it at 8:20, not sure I would like that, although getting dark now at 4:30 during those winter months sucks.
