I love the long summer days DST gives us. We are blessed to experience them on the shores of Lake Michigan.

To any that do not like DST, remember we are the extreme west edge of the time zone and any zone change puts us in the extreme eastern edge of a time zone. There are no compromises. Also the sun set at approximately 8:30pm near Cleveland and at 8:00pm in New Jersey area. Without DST those times would be 8:00 pm, 7:30pm, 7:00pm. So much for late summer fun then…

...Many call it "Redneck Riviera" or "Hillbilly Haven"!

I thought that was Vermilion?
A few years back I was up there and saw a car with a license plate trim ring that had "Vermilion - The Red Neck Riviera" on it!

I just want to know the time. Can we stop messing with the clocks already? If Joe wants one thing good to be remembered during his Presidency, he should propose the removal of DST. However, now that I mentioned it, he’d probably propose moving the clock back 2hrs.

If there is one thing he is eminently capable of, it is doing everything wrong.

It's that time of the year again.... Switching the clocks. I'm over it. Just decide to leave it one way or the other.

Back when I was working, I'd say keep DST year around. Now, retired, I don't care. I'm just over swapping time twice a year.

There..... Now I feel better ;)

Amen!!!!
Just f’n pick one already!

I read this morning that Rubio and a Dem senator co sponsor a bill to make DST permanent. I sure hope it passes.

It's kind of funny. They've been talking about doing away with the time change for decades now. In typical congress fashion, however, the only bills that ever make it through are to either spend more of our money or restrict more of our activity. I'm not holding my breath for a bill to pass that the population actually wants.

'Not sure how I got this into the Joke thread, but missed adding it here. I guess it's not to late:

And remember, this is for posterity, so... be honest.

So, explain Idaho. Living in the southwest region but traveling north, you have to set your clocks back an hour. Why? Longitude numbers remain virtually unchanged. I can see where it might jog where we border with Nevada, but why chop Idaho? Oh, that, and a tiny slice of eastern Oregon. Goofy...

That looks like a map England would draw. Anyone who understands that reference gets history and why the Middle East is so f'd up.

What a bunch of whining! Guys that pride themselves on taking care of their boats are crying like babies over changing the time on a clock twice a year, and it is done in off season.

So this incredibly difficult job of changing of the clocks is not worth a summer of an extra hour of sunlight after typical work hours?

We used to vacation at a little resort on Pelican lake in far western Minnesota, Fair Hills, the first week in August every year. It would stay light until 10 or 10:30. I used that extra daylight to squeeze in some more golf or at least work on my short game on the practice green. It was awesome. At our lake in southwest Missouri, 4th of July fireworks don't start before 10:00 PM because that's when it finally gets dark enough. I personally don't mind the time change.
