Daylight Saving Time

I would keep DST year round. Still light out, next week be dark this time.
Hell if i ran things i would make it so sunup is noon and sunset is like 10pm.
Would needs daylight to go to work.

Daylight time in West Michigan means that it is still light at 10:00 PM for a major part of summer. For working folks that means lots of time after work to do things that are fun. Would hate to see that go away for those who still have to work.

So, explain Idaho. Living in the southwest region but traveling north, you have to set your clocks back an hour. Why? Longitude numbers remain virtually unchanged. I can see where it might jog where we border with Nevada, but why chop Idaho? Oh, that, and a tiny slice of eastern Oregon. Goofy...

Put Idaho in pacific and it would be just as goofy. Maybe it’s just a goofy state. Right Nater?

Just meet in the middle. Shift the clocks by 30minutes and be done with it.

Yeah, the half hour wouldn't work so hot. I'm sure jmauld was kidding.

We are basically 6 weeks from the shortest daylight day yet the standard time extends about 11 weeks beyond. The overall time for standard time doesn't make sense anyway.

Yeah going into DST earlier would be nice.

I wish we stayed in DST. I like the extra time at night or afternoon. Dark mornings are fine they become light.

That was great when we lived up there, but who says you can't choose to leave it that way...

Oh, yeah, it's a goofy state. Nothing but skin heads, crazy fanatical religious splinter groups, and they're all rednecks. Everyone carries multiple guns everywhere! In fact, my bank has a sign on the door stating "Weapons Required to Enter". Everyone chews tobacco, and no one wears Covid masks. You'll hear banjos playing anytime you find yourself traversing one of our few rivers. 'Probably best that you not think of darkening our doorstep. I can't be responsible for what could happen, and there's thousands of empty square miles where someone could "disappear" if they weren't careful.

Sounds exactly like the marina we keep our boats at. :/ Excluding the bank. Instead of chewing tobacco it'd be Busch Light or similar.

Many call it "Redneck Riviera" or "Hillbilly Haven"!

I love DST, makes western Michigan Lake Michigan boating awesome. The latest sunset is 9:27pm with twilight at 10:00pm. It means the earliest sunset throughout my season are about 8:30pm. That creates great timing for boaters to get out and enjoy the season.

Many folks are able to get to their boat after work and get several hours of great time. Take an hour of that away and the effort may not be worth the time…

I'm all for making Daylight Savings Time Daylight Only Time ... Just pick one!

Going to Standard Time for basically only 25% of the year seems dumb. You finally get into the routine and then back to DST. Dumb....

The reason we do the switch, (this varies by location) is in December sunset would be at 4:15 in many areas. So literally to move the normal workday closer to the sun in winter we change the time for that period. We used to do about a 6 month split but DST was so popular they extended it to current.
