Greetings, I am using the weaver snap davit system to hold a 9 foot PVC dinghy on the swim platform.

I saw some where a stand off brackets / pole that screw into the oar thread on the dink and clamped to the stern hand railing. This appeared to be a great setup.

Has anyone seen this device and know where I can buy? I dont want to screw / bolt anything to the boat.

Thanks

I designed this and fabricated it myself as I have access to a full machine shop. I used the single mount reluctantly but since mine is only 7'11" and is very light, it works fine. I was out today and hit 32 mph on my way back to the dock with no problems. But... I would not recommend only one mount on a 9' boat like yours as it may twist too much while underway with the extra length. You should note that I used a urethane spacer and the oar nut to hold this stainless bar so vibration would not be a problem. It works fine for me.

If you have more questions on my set up just ask....

boatrboy, do you have any close up pictures of this setup? Didn't see any in the thread you sent.

I am curious as to what did you used for a rail mount, hardware etc.?

Thanks

Boatrboy, you can get that stand off pole from Weaver. I can be sued to simply hold the dingy back to give you swim platform access or to stabilize the dink in a more verticle sposition while underway.

Go to Weaver's website.

Asureyez - thanks - I am aware of the weaver stuff but if you look at my set up, you will notice I did not have to glue anything else to the dinghy or drill two sets of holes for the rails or the angle brackets to keep them out of the way. All that and less to buy

I thought it was a slick set up and I am lucky enough to have a machine shop at my disposal  .

Don't get me wrong, I like the weaver stuff, I just didnt want to pay, drill, or glue.

Giddy - I do not have close ups. I used a taylor made flagpole mount which is plastic and modified it to accommodate 5/16-18 screws tapped into the stainless steel bar. Let me know if you really want to do this and I will provide you more details.
