I have an 8.5 Ft achilles inflatable. It has inflatable keel(not fiberglass) Has anyone found a good system to mount it onto the smaller platforms? I've read the thread about towing, but would prefer some of you guys who may have pics of them mounted on the platform put them up.

If you can drill through the top of your transom gunnel, you may want to check out the Garhauer products...

They work well on my boat...

They are removable when not being used to carry your dink...

what would happen if you filled the boat with helium???

Check the dinghy section as was suggested...
I have a similar platform to yours and installed St. Croix davits because I have an 8hp 4-stroke that needs to be left on/transported with the dinghy.

If you don't have a motor mounted, most I think end up with Weaver Snap-Davits or something similar. They have a new system that looks pretty cool too-

TOBNPR, there is no way I'm mounting a $2500 davit for a $225 inflatable! Has anyone had any luck with the plastic innovations C-lift? Looks like a reasonable way to keep it strapped up against the transom. Mine is not a RIB, just has the inflatable keel. No motor at this point, so I'm thinking something cheap like this could keep me until I decide if I want to plunk down a bunch of cash for the whole dinghy system. Anyone who has ever tried it please post. So far I have found nothing bad about it, I like the lightweight, cheap price, and removability. I'm sure I'll get blasted with "you get what you paid for" I just can't justify the price of most of the same style kits. Stainless doesn't cost THAT much!

I bought and installed the Nautley Davits they sell on ebay for about $400. They are slick and they allow me to rest the dinghy (Sea Eagle 8.9 Inflatable) flat on the platform with the motor attached (I also store two folding bikes in the dinghy while underway). Took the boat (dinghy on the davits) 700 miles south to New Smyrna Beach, FL. Took the dinghy on and off under all conditions and it works great.

Money doesn't grow on trees...Good Luck.

Hey- I just said it looked cool- not that I would buy it, either...
The St. Croix davits that I pm'd you the pics of ran around $1500. Yeah, I know- pricey stainless... but it was the ONLY way I could come up with to carrry the dinghy with the 80 lb outboard on the transom. For the dinghy alone, the Snap Davits are around $250 I think...

BEWARE the Hurley's, Nautley's, etc. on our EC's.
I had a lengthy conversation with Todd Hurley because I really wanted a pull-on, tip-up davit. Because my platform has only a few inches of clearance from the water- particularly when the boat's loaded with 400 gallons of fuel and water- these types of davits WILL NOT WORK. Todd agreed- as much as he'd like to have sold me his product it just doesn't work. Needs more clearance from the water.

If your boat is like mine- and you regularly see your swim platform go 6" to a foot below the water when anchored and a big wake goes by- avoid them. The swim platforms and the dinghys themselves are not designed to take the stresses of being strapped down while a wake is trying to submerge them...

My platform isn't as big as yours. I think if you took just the are where your ladder comes out, that is about the size of my platform. I'm not looking to add the big platform yet, Shawn!

TOBNPR(what the hell does that stand for anyhow?)
Have you seen this http://www.plasticinnovations.com/
It looks like a cheap alternative. It may not last forever, but seems to get the dinghy up away from the water and is cheap!:smt038 Not an ad, I want to hear if anyone has any problems.

I have a similar product, stainless, not plastic, more expensive, but am happy with them.

very easy to install, and use. Easy to remove when not needed.

I got the plasticinnovations hoops on my 340,had them on the 30' too. Works great on the old Sea Ray swim platforms. I use them 2-3 trips a year. Needed to replace the hinges twice ( they are only plastic ) Found these stainless hoops online, about $340, getting them when I find the $.
