Hello,
My newly purchased 1989 Sea Ray Sundancer is having the following issues:
-Dash lights won't come on.
-Outdrive trim switch: goes down but won't come back up.
-I have to use the trailer trim switch to bring up outdrives.
-what the heck is stero mute for!?!??!?!
Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated:)
Thanks

Also, do you know of a dealer on the eastern shore?

For the dash lights do you have a little brightness control knob?

My 98 290 DA has what looks like a little volume control knob on the dash to change brightness.

If that doesn't do the trick I bet it's the switch itself. They do go bad once in a while and are pretty cheap. To trouble shoot you can move some electrical terminals around from the switch and see if the dash lights light up.

Your trim issues could be one of several things and without more info it will be very challenging to determine what it might be. You might try YouTube and do a search there.

I don't have a brightness knob.

Thanks, I will check on YouTube:)

I just checked mine......

My dash lights are tied into the navigation lights...... 1st click is anchor light, 2nd click is the navigation lights and the dash lights.

Does your anchor and navigation lights work?

Yes, anchor and navigation lights are all a go:)

I have a sea ray 1989 Sundancer 280. Thanks a lot. Been looking and tried everything, can't figure this out.

Thanks very much. I'm guessing that my dimmer switch is bad. I was thinking there may be a brightness dial I was missing, but don't see one. Must be a bad switch.
