Damaged running gear

Just got the call from insurance they are covering $30,500 of the repair and they are not totaling the boat. What a relief. He did mention that I should up the policy value, because my agreed value was too low. Mind you this was the value that they suggested when I got the policy. I appreciate the responses, this has been a learning process for me and it was nice to have a place to exchange ideas.

Glad to hear you'll be on your way I know it's been stressful boats always are and good luck

Is the Boat floating? Are you going to continue the journey this year or hold off?

No significant traffic where we live other than the morning/afternoon rush to and from Kennedy Space Center. Pretty laid back.

same here.

PLEASE DON'T TELL ANYBODY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !

I’m sorry I am not getting the notifications when someone replies.

Here is an update. We finally got the boat back on Friday after Thanksgiving and we we’re making our way down south. We left Elizabeth city marina this morning and were making our way to Oriental North Carolina and are shaft slid out from the transmission coupling. We were able to get it into a marina and waiting to get hauled yet again.

Seems like they didn’t put the wire thru the set bolt?

Yup and they screwed the key as well. They may be able to straighten it but it would be better if they replaced it and secured the shaft. Best to check the other side as well.

At least the hubs are new.

Hopefully the shaft and prop is still there when we haul tomorrow. Almost sank due to water coming in through shaft seal. Stuck rag in there to keep water at bay.

I was hoping it just dropped back. If it went through the shaft log and the packing joint.....it is gone. Usually the rudder stops the prop since it is only a couple of inches away from it. If the shaft isn't visible .....that is not a good sign.

What marina are you at now?

Well done on stopping the leak.....bad things happen fast.
