Dale Hollow Lake Southern Ky, Northern Tn taken weekend before last. This was shot from the cove where we tied off and spent the night. Wonderful weather that weekend. Went last weekend too. Ended up barely beating a big storm back to the marina.

Nice, but you're going to have to post more. One is never enough. (Grin)

Great shot. Dale Hollow is one of the most pleasant lakes we've boated; fortunately it's too far away from the bigger cities to attract the big crowds. Center Hill, an hour closer to Nashville, is almost as large, almost as pretty, almost as clean, and almost always lots more crowded....

Dale Hollow is definitely my lake of choice...I tend to get lost on the lake even in the day time. I guess the remedie is more lake time..darn!!

It has a lot of fingers and it is easy to get turned around on. I have to pack a map with me to keep my bearings. A GPS would help, especially in foul weather. It is one of the nicer lakes around. Very clear water and typically not real crowded.

kybishop - I like that picture on your avatar...I assume that's your boat on Dale? I have fished for smallmouth a lot at Dale in the fall, winter and early spring but I have never boated on the lake persay...just crusing around the lake in a jonboat with some buddies...usually always go to Cumberland with the Sea Ray. BUt judging from your picture there it looks like you were able to beach your boat...no big deal as far as lake bottom is concerned? I guess you'd have to do some searching and find a good place to beach it.

Thanks and yes, that picture was taken on Dale Hollow and is of our 210 Cuddy. I have not explored the entire lake yet but the north central coves are very nice for beaching. It is a soft shale and you can nose your boat in gently without any worries. There are still the rocky shore lined areas but quite a few are like the one in the picture. Have to be careful for large rocks and trees just under the water depending on level. I hear the south western part of the lake down by the damn is very nice as well. We live in Frankfort Kentucky, Dale Hollow is about another hour past Lake Cumberland from home (3 hours to Dale). We rent slips at Wolf River Marina and keep the boats down there.

Great pic and I have heard nothing of praise for Dale.

I need to tow the bow rider up and spend the weekend sometime.

It is a bit too far up and back in one day from Nashville.

From Nashville give Tim's Ford Lake a try. Pretty big lake, rally deep and clean and not too crowded most weekends.

Have heard great things as well about Tims Ford. I need to go check it out, although my boat is not easily trailored.

I have some friends that love the area so much they are moving down there and are not bothered by the commute to Nashville. Must be paradise!

I kept a boat on Tims Ford years ago, and it's great. It gets dropped a lot in the winter, like a lot of other lakes, but, if you keep your boat in the marina there, you get to boat many days in the winter. There are a few cabins there at the marina, and the State Park borders much of the lake as well. There used to be a nice grill there at the marina that you could order food (and beer) and pick up at the fuel dock.

Just saw this thread again, had forgotten about it. Haven't made it down to Dale Hollow the last few years. The entire family really misses it. We keep thinking "this year" but home renovations and life in general right now just gets in the way...
