Custom installation of an Electronics box on a Cruiser?

Hi,

OK first, I hope it's OK to still post here...I sold my Sea Ray and picked up a Wellcraft 240SE....there is no forums that seem to be as helpful and friendly as you guys. I will certainly be back to a Sea Ray someday, but for the price, I had to pick up this boat:
1998 Wellcraft 240SE
Vacu flush toiled
Hot water heater
Mid berth cabin
Full enclosure
Wakeboard tower, which I will be using for a Radar tower and lights.

I need a place to mount the electronics and there is hardly any dash space...so I picked up a used electronics box today and I'm thinking of mounting under the bimini, centered above the dash...as long as there is head clearance, it may actually work out...

I’m thinking of 3 peaces of 1’ tubing to secure it to the outside of the dash inside the windshield and one in the back….I still want to have enough room to walk through the windshield…

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure I fully understand how you're planning on mounting it, but you mentioned 1' sections of tubing for support off the dash. I don't see how you can mount it any way other than overhead-which there's no way to do that I can see- without obscuring visibility from the helm from either a sitting or standing position.

Or did you mean 1" tubing? Meaning long "legs" off the dash to support it way up in the air? That would look really funky, IMO.
Better idea would be to have a fab shop build an extension off your wakeboard tower that would combine a bimini "t-top" along with support for an Ebox.

For me the 280 helm seat is about 6 inches too low to begin with. That being said the display really isn't in the way because it is mounted close to the centerline of the boat, and the helm station is close to the starboard side, making the display's position more peripheral.
