My idea is the cut a carpet piece for the cabin floor. I own a 290 AJ.
The idea would be to ship the templete to snapincarpets.com
and have him cut a piece that matches my deck carpet.
anyone ever done this?

I don't know why you are headed in this direction, but I wouldn't do it that way. This is one of those things that people think because its on a boat, it has to be done in a boat yard or by a boat dealer. I'm sure it can be, but at usual water front prices.

In reality, all your carpet is is a marine grade carpet that is glued down much like indoor/outdoor carpet without padding or underlayment. Try to find a carpet guy who will work with you and has access to indoor/outdoor Berber style carpeting with a water proof backing..... the same stuff Sea Ray uses for cockpit carpet except without the rubber backing on it. Then any regular carpet layer can lay the carpet if he takes his time and is careful. It normally takes 2X as long to lay carpet in a boat as in a house, so expect to pay that much more than his regular rate and expect to help clean up, because removing a carpet from a Sea Ray makes a royal mess. A shop-vac is your friend!

Be sure you only use marine grade or indoor outdoor labeled carpeting. Some carpet fibers in regular carpeting hold moisture and become mildew/mold farms.

post your location, maybe someone knows a local place in your area

Ask your marina or local shop, they will refer you to a carpet place they use, the dealership definitly has a carpet company they can refer you to.

I just had this conversation today with someone who owns a 55 sedan bridge here in hilton head, who had it done. where are you located?

Robby, don't you see he doesn't want to leave a "papertrail"

Anyway I like Franks idea. A couple phone calls in carpet research and he's good to go.

Papertrail.....Good luck, shouldn't be too tough

I think I may have been misunderstood. I am not looking to recarpet the whole cabin. Just the the section that does not currently have carpet.!
