I have a 1991 Sea Ray 220DA LTD with a 4.3 LX engine. I need to purchase a new prop. I plan to go with a 14 x 19. Which one would be better for general performance, a cupped or uncupped aluminum prop. Thanks Tom

Hey Riverman,
Check this out: http://turningpointpropellers.com/propellers_101_cm.htm I own a turning point prop 19p on my 00' 180BR 3.0 and a Vengeance 21p by Merc Marine on my 97' 230BR 7.4L. Both are stainless, cupped and raked. I think you generally get better performance out of a cupped prop. In fact I don't think I have seen an uncupped prop on a boat in a long time. Factory Alum props are even cupped. Unless you are really trying to save $ or there is some other factaor, a SS prop will also last longer as it is nearly impervious to the small dings and whatnot.

What pitch do you have now and is your WOT, trimmed out, with minimal gear, fuel and 1 person?
