2007 40 Sundancer with QSB 5.9 425 Cummins. Survey at purchase 3 seasons ago mentioned the mounts were getting close to needing replacement. Several are now totally collapsed with the rubber pretty much sitting directly on the stringer and what I consider an excessive amount of engine vibration felt through the hull.

This winter I hired a very well regarded local independent tech to replace all 8 mounts. He spent some time investigating in the bilge, and has now declined the job saying there are access issues and he cant see any way to replace the mounts short of completely pulling the motors.

Anyone else have any experience with this? I have a seriously hard time believing Sea Ray designed the boat this way.

Waiting to hear back from the local MarineMax for their opinion, but FWIW the local Cummins marine service shop seemed to think it was no big deal and quoted it at 8 hours labor per motor. That seemed way to simplistic so I'm hesitant to hire them as something seems off and I dont want to get in a situation where they cant finish the job and it affects my summer season. Summer is way too short in Minnesota!

The local cummins team is pretty good. They did the work on our old boat when a coupling needed to be service. Our local shop wanted to pull the motor but Cummins got the job done and in a timely manner.

I suggest you have them out to the boat to take a look before hiring them. This way you are both on the same page.
