Resolved before posting - but putting it here anyway.

Boat ran all day on Saturday.... zero issue. Went to start port side on Sunday - zero start.

At the end of it all - turned out that the starter solenoid RELAY went out... also known as the mag switch.

$45 part.... but let me tell you.... getting to it on the port side is a bit of an issue - and by a bit - I mean a WHOLE bit.

Either remove the aluminum support and work around the exhaust or wiggle back in front of the turbo.

Or - break 3 ribs, turn your head 180 degrees, dislocate a few joints - and pray.

There are several of us on CSR that have had to change that same relay on the port side, some of us multiple times. There seems to be no rhyme or reason why. Carry a spare.

Been there done that just starting vacation... Saturday morning ...dinghy loaded.... just filled up at gas dock .... dead.... lost two days
I carry a spare now

Just a note the Cummins van had 7 on hand....:)

Okay, now you guys have me paranoid! So if the Port is a b!%ch, then the Starboard must be easy. What am I looking for? Does anyone have a picture? More importantly, a part number and source? :D

Thanks for the FYI. I just ordered a couple to add to the parts bin. You can likely find them for $30-35 from your local diesel distributors if you need it quick.

I am curious if someone could point out the location of this part on the engine. My Dad who has a 460DA and the 8.3 Motors is having the same issue with one of the motors. Thank you

It’s right around the starter ..... follow the cables from the starter
