Looks like a Sea Ray to me...think these boat owners are nervous? These are the flood waters in downtown nashville. I'm not sure how much more the river is supposed to go up today but I would suppose not much more and that dock may not be above water..?

And I thought they called the Mississippi the big muddy(Grin)

Yeah its nasty looking. The scary thing is that Lake Cumberland in KY has been lowered because the corps were scared the damn was going to fail but now they have had to shut off all water flow out of the dam because of the flooding in everything downstream...Nashville...etc.

whats the lake level now then?

Last month we were almost to the top of our poles on the Kanawha river here in Charleston, WV. We are muddy today but only up about 8'..so far...

Right now its at 693 ft and rising above sea level....but for the past couple years and the next several they are trying to keep it below 680 to repair the dam because of failure fears. Normal summer pool before repairs were taking place was 723. So it is well below summer pool but well above what they have been keeping it at lately for the repairs. But its a large amount of water that needs to be let out headed for Nashville.

All those boat owners came to downtown Nashville Friday (I think) to go to a Jimmy Buffett concert. The dock with the green roof is a floating barge so it is going to rise with the river. The boats are secure and safe........ as long as the barge doesn't break loose.

Downtown Nashville is only about 25 miles by river downstream from Old Hickory Lock, and most of the flooding surge occurs immediately below the dams, and in the grand scheme of things 25 miles is not far blow the dam. The next dam on the river is all the way to the north end of Land Between the Lakes, at the Kentucky border. Its got to be at least 150 miles downstream from Nashville. There will be a tremendous amount of debris in the river for a while.

My wife and I took a "fishing" trip to lake cumberland last year. When we got there, the GPS showed a lake but it was nothing but dry land. There was very few places to get to teh water, at least where we could take our 2 year old. Pretty sad trip. We had no idea they dropped the lake down.

One of my sisters lives in the Brentwood area down there. Gave her a call to make sure they were ok. She said the water had filled their back yard & was concerned it was going to reach the house. So she called the street dept. & left them a message to let them know they needed to come clear the storm sewer. She said she felt pretty stupid when she turned on her tv & saw the whole dam city was under water....

We are heading to Brentwood this weekend for a soccer tournament. Wonder if the fields will be playable, a little insignificant thought though, considering the flooding in the area.
