CSR t-shirts and hoodies?

Would you be interested in CSR apparel?

I was mostly a lurker over at SRO, but I'm very happy to see things coming back together over here.

I had asked Jim if he would be interested in having some apparel printed with the CSR logo available on the site and he said he was all for it. Since my side business sells on-demand custom printed apparel, we could get this going quick and easy.

Of course, we could certainly go beyond the CSR logo and have other design options also, but we'll start off simple. To get started, we want to get an idea of the interest level. Please respond via the attached poll. Thanks!

I've attached an image of a potential item.

First, I am not a lawyer, but I have been on both sides of trademark issues in business.

It is going to boil down to how the Brunswick/Sea Ray trademarks applications define their marks and the use of their marks and how strongly you are willing to defend whatever you decide to do. Honestly, Brunswick's pockets are pretty deep and if they feel strongly enough about what you do, the attorneys they have on retainer have nothing better to do than make a project out of you.

Having had a little exposure to this recently, I do know that Brunswick gets protective about the SR Wave logo, the name Sea Ray, and the name Sundancer. As long as you don't use their trademarks to sell something, there is not a problem....but that defeats your purpose doesn't it. Similarly, I don't belive the design shown in your photograph world infringe because "Sea Ray" is only a descriptive term defining "Club" and the logo is nothing like Sea Ray's.

There are Baja, Bayliner, Albemarle, and several other owner's clubs not affiliated with the boat companies or Brunswick....at least one has gone to arbitration over the name and the owner's club won that case.

But, this is not a legal opinion. Go see a trademark attorney in your area to get specific advice on your plans.

I've noticed other brand sepcific forums put a disclaimer on the home page that says something to the effect of " not affiliated with Sea Ray in any way". Perhaps we should have one of those on here. If there are any attorneys or Brunswick people that have any insight on the ramifications fo promoting the club please let us know.

As the sweatshirt is displayed in this post, I only see an actual existing web address, this would be no different than a published phone number.

Not a lawyer, but sounds ok to me :smt017 As long as we don't use their logo.

Just my Two cents

In view of the truly shocking events of the last 2 month (SRO exit)
I would like to suggest we refrain from anything that could raise legal problems for our host. Without profitable enterprises our Brunswick Budies will not interfere.
Having said that I would love to have my Official Sea Ray Logo hat and Jacket Personalized.
On demand direct print is COOL!
What brand printed do you have?

I have to agree with Hotlanta. Emphatically...
Why do anything to complicate a good thing???

Enjoy the comraderie, the advise, the sharing, and buy a Sea Ray jacket if it's important to you.

your right, why rock the boat. forget the t-shirts etc...

I also agree, I have enough tee's and hoodies anyway. Lets stick to what we like best, asking and answering questions and experiences about our boats.
