CSR Rendezvous 2009 – Atlantic City NJ

Alex, Great pictures... What kind of camera do you have? We need to buy a new one and your pictures great day and night...

Rod, the camera is actually pretty old (5 or so years), but still does a great job. It's Kodak DX6490 with X10 optical zoom. The night shots require some skill, which I'm still newbie at, but know couple of tricks. I'm looking for a new camera in the near future since I like taking pictures.

I guess its not the equipment, it's the man... Our pictures never looked as good as yours... What is your recommendation for your next camera???

It's a tough call due to my criteria. I'll have to do some homework and come up with few choices. I'll let you know when I narrow down my search.

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I miss the daily postings to the "CSR Rendezvous - Atlantic City, NJ. Seems like we need another trip to be organized before summers end.

Mthor,

Same here. If you have an interesting destination within reasonable distance in mind we'd love to participate. I'm always looking for new destinations.

Alex.

I hear Ron (aka Cruise Director Julie) has nothing to do and is looking for something to occupy his endless free time.

I'm all for Toms River... We can all raft up in the "Secret Spot"... Not so secret now that I have found it... We can all hang out with Ron at his Marina, and walk to down town for dinner... We could all anchor in Silver Bay or "the cove" in Pine beach... I will provide Pizza delivery service with my small boat... We could even have kayak and dinghy races...

I'm game. Can we anchor there over night? Or are there decent marinas close by?

Doug

There are a lot of marinas and anchoring spots... Where Ron is the water mostly fresh... Impulse III is in prettiest Marina (Dillon’s Creek) in Island Heights. There is also Cozy Cove in Island Heights... Shore Point Marina (the old River Bank Marina) it is not the Pine Beach side of the Rive and it has a pool... There are nice anchoring spots on the River in Pine Beach and another directly across the TR side... Silver Bay is a very nice and quiet anchoring spot off Catis Island Park... And there is always the "Secret Spot" (location is classified) It is off the Island Beach State Park...

TR is one of our favorite places to anchor over night.

I think Silver Bay is getting too crowded and the cove there is getting hammered by jetskiers. Last time we spend the night there, these guys showed up at around 8:30-9am. I was very surprized.

Frank quit your whining. Get all your buddies and come on over to the crappy side of the tracks! You'll save yourself at least ONE of these...

BTW, LHP has (I think) 2 transient slips and there's now a bar at the pool, serving $1 drafts and $2 wine.

I've changed my font to be more like Rod!

Ron, now I get it why you spend so much time by the pool. Boat A Bing serves nice wine too. So, start those engines and get out there.

BTW, I never had explored Forked River. If it's nice for the group we can spend the day at Tices and head to FR for over night.

Lets pick the date for the get together.

Alex
The next date I could do a raftup would be August 1. Dom is going back to AC that weekend & James will be in Cape May so they're out. But I think some of the gang is available. I'll be returning to LHP that day - we have company and Kinship is transienting at our place that night.

Yeah, the Jet Skiers LIKE that cove.

This year, alot of people have started anchoring in the cove or beaching on the shore. The Jet Skiers are very upset with this trend, as it restricts maneuvering room!

I normally don't get up early enough to buzz through at 9am. .I usually take the sunset shift :)

Any weekend is good for us. Ran past the Secret Spot on Saturday, but didn't see anyone I recognized.

Not to stear the thread in the different direction, but here's just a few pretty good night shots I was able to take with my old DX6490 from very long distance (btw, pictures were taken in Franch Riviera when I was returning from Manoco):
