CSR Rendezvous 2009 – Atlantic City NJ

Of course. But only if your boat is smaller than 30'. I dont want to be the smallest boat there  (oh.. and put your boat info in your signature...please!)
Heck, I'm considering making the trip, I will problably have the smallest, and oldest there, that is assuming I have my repower project done in reasonable time.

As it happens I have a wedding in Howell NJ to go to on the 3rd. Good excuse. I'll let the "Cruise Director konw as more time goes on, but I fear I will know late in the game. Time and weather will tell. The boat is too big for the shop and its cold outside:smt013

You're in subject (to all those factors). Where do you boat out of?

I live in Blakeslee, PA. That is on the northeast side of the state, between Scranton and Stroudsburg. I will trailer the boat to anywhere in New Jersey. I will try to find a Marina Close to Howell NJ to put her in the water on the 3rd early AM. Spend the night into the 4th. I have my cousins wedding in Howell on Friday the 3rd and will want to sleep after that without too much driving. The 4th is on a Saturday. Put the boat on the trailer Sunday afternoon, maybe monday depending on my load schedule. (Work)
then again, I may tow her to AC to save time, but that seems to defeat the purpose.
I just got her and shes a project that should not take long to get done. My father and I used to go out on the navisink with his, but we never went far. I will be new to the area but am looking foward to going. I will make reservations for me once I see how well my project is going.
As for the weather, I have about a foot of snow on the ground, The boat won't fit into the shop, so it depends on how cold it is and my willingness to deal with it to get the engine and outdrive installed. Plus all the odds and ends that goes with buying an older boat.
I feel that it is well within my reach.

When I had my 1983 225SXL I would regularly take day trips from Barnegat Bay (Toms River area) to Atlantic City and back.....probably 2-3 per season. Ocean and ICW depending on weather. Many folks in 20 something foot boats spend the night at Trump.....you won't be the only one.

Just hoping to get the boat ready by then. Should be ok.

You now have a "Deadline" to get her up and running! Weather wont be that much of an issue - if it sucks, you go on the inside. Great thing about a smaller boat is that if you wind up on a sandbar (which is entirely possible on the inside), you get out and push.

Dom
On July 3, hi tide at the "inlet with no name" is 6am and 6pm. I'd like to try the inside since I've never dont it before. Be easier to follow a nice big boat with diesels that can dredge out a pathway for me!

You're on.....I've got a few places to 'test' how well you follow....

Dom & Ron, you mention the "inlet with no name". I'm familiar with the area you guys are in having spent about 8 years at Bass River (aka Viking Yachting Center) but I don't know what inlet you're talking about. Just wondering, Mark

The inlet is centered btwn the "non navigable" Beach Haven Inlet and the old Little Egg Inlet. I have dubbed it "inlet with no name" b/c as it is now marked, it is neither BH or LE. It runs right through the center, where BH used to curve north and LE curved south. I think it's still technically considered Little Egg Inlet.

Now that reminds me, I was young about 12 or so. Dad got us stranded on a sand bar. :smt009 I have to ask Mom where we were, but we got STUCK. :smt038 Dad made a simple error. The Chart he was using read "5" The fold in the chart covered the ".5" We had to wait for the tide to come in., meanwhile me and my sister played on an "island" that appeared near us white the boat sat on her keel in only a few inches of water! :smt043:smt043 Memories...:smt024

Sorry Dad...

As of summer 2008, the "new" inlet was very well marked and there's no less that 10' of water under you at any time. The locals had been using this unmarked passage for years and ignoring the pathetically marked and harrowing Little Egg inlet. I had plugged in a set of 17 waypoints that a Beach Haven fisherman gave me back in 2007 and it is nearly identical to the new channel. Word has it that it changes a bit from year to year so I still prefer to exit at high tide.

Jitts, same exact thing happened to me when I was 5 aboard this boat just outside Great Kills Harbor in Staten Island. Didnt get back to the mooring til 4am.

Guess I'm gonna have to have Mom and Dad drag up some pics of the Original JITTS
FYI JITTS was my Dad's boat.. JI from Jim (Dad) T, Toni (Mom) T, Tanya (sister) and S, Steve (Me)
Jitts was sold in the early 90s about 93-94. Jitts II is Dads new boat, I 18 ft Alumacraft.
Jitts III is no such boat, Just seemed a good user name and I have my own family now, the name no longer fits. Mine is remamed "Stugots". I'm an Itallian from Jersey and a big Sopranos Fan:thumbsup:
I'm also bald in and slightly overweight.:smt100:grin:

It's funny how boats were named that way years ago. The boat above was ROMAD II. RO for Ron (dad), Ron (me), Rosanne (my sis) and MAD for Madeline (mom). That little ChrisCraft cavalier to the right in the pic above was named Donchabar, for the three kids in the family Donald, Charles and Barbara. Even my boat's name is a throwback Lil' (Lillian wife) and Krissy (Kristen daughter). Also, most people dont bother dubbing a replacement boat II or III. It seems people just devise a whole new name, usually a cunning play on words or something obscure that requires lots of back story.

In that case, read this thread...

I've used the inlet last season on the way to AC and it wasn't the easiest just b/c actual depth didn't match the chartplotter numbers. BTW, I have two different charplotters and both were off. Both of them had updated cards. Where it showed 10'-15' sometimes I had 3'-5' under the boat. When conditions are calm, it's not a big deal, but if you catch a good wave it can throw you in the shallow area resulting bottom damage. If I remember correctly, when going out, staying to the deapest area toward left (not directly streight out as it looks on the chart) and making wider turn (depth permitting) to starboard was the way to go. I think going with the high tide and some local knowledge would help a lot.

Were there channel markers up when you went out? We used the inlet second week of august and I think the guy at Morrison's said they recently had marked it. If I can find my "Local knowledge" waypoints I'll email them to you and you can enter them manually into your plotter. They were great.

Ron,
my trip was on July 4th weekend, I was surprised that the inlet wasn't marked (at least I didn't see them). But, since you were informed that the channel was marked in the end of July or beginning of August kind of explains it.
