CSR Lake Erie Islands 2012 Rendezvous

Holy crap Jason...maybe next year I'll fly back to Ontario and borrow a boat from my buddy Chris at CAS. Make the trip across and drink your beer!

You guys have a great time ... Please!

Mark

Why borrow a boat? I have a mid cabin...

Pretty stowked man thanks and will do!

Keep an eye on the forecast everyone. Lake Erie might be showing its ugly side Friday. Currently our forecast is 6-9 footers subsiding to 5-8. That's a little too rough for this first mate - but the captain will be all about the "adventure".

Will get there though!!

We'll be there Friday with 2 boats and five people. Like Pyrojodge said, we will be on island time floating with the wind and waves.

NOAA is wrong all the time, but if there ARE 6-9's, please wait it out. 6-9's on Erie need to be taken very seriously. They won't be big ocean rollers - they're steep, frequent and mean.

We often hear, "boats can take more abuse than the passengers". I don't agree. I've never been more than bruised by being knocked around in waves, but the boat has lost cabinet doors, hinges, a TV, dinghy chocks, the anchor rode has bounced out of the windlass, and in the most extreme case, so many things were emptied from the galley that I literally had to follow bread crumbs to find the toaster! (which had made it's way into the aft cabin)

Be careful everyone!

I agree. Ill keep you posted on actual waves and weather... be safe but Noah is wrong on the lake a lot.!

To all on the roster...be safe and fair weather
I am heading south.

Strippers, politicians, and weathermen... can't believe any of them!

NOAA is already backing off.

Dog gone it, :smt021 5 other boats along with my family were heading to MBI until this mornings forecast came out. It scared everyone away from booking a stay for Saturday night (rightfully so as Erie can be mean).

With this newer forecast showing easing seas, we're gonna make the call Saturday morning and likely head somewhere. I'm still hoping our gang gets to MBI.

Hopefully it straightens out and everyone can make it safe and sound. I'll keep everyone updated here on actual weather and waves. I'll post here periodicaly. Right now it is a stiff north east wind prob 10knots or so... The lake is prob 3 footers right now. Play it safe everyone!

Hopefully the high pressure system currently sitting over northern Wisconsin will start moving to the east and take the N / NE winds with it. We're about 60 miles south of the lake and there is barely a breeze.

Keeping our fingers crossed that the lake sits down by mid/late morning Saturday so that we can make the trip across.

Take the West side of Southbass then shoot between the two. I hope so Too Casey! I know you have worked your butt off on this buddy!

We took the 290 up to MBI in July 2010 and had a great time.Stayed at Cedar point Friday and crossed over to MBI Saturday.
The lake was a bit rough with 4 footers and some wind. I really wish I could attend! Here is some pics from the trip.....enjoy and be safe.

Take some pics guys and post them!

Not completely true...Strippers and Politicians will tell you the truth when you stop paying them.... Weathermen are always lying

Hourly forecast is calling for winds to subside overnight to less than 10mph. By mid-morning Saturday still from the ENE at 6 or 7 mph.

Current conditions (Friday - noon) at the National Data Bouy located 28 NM northwest of Cleveland, winds out of the NE at 23 kts, gusting to 29. Waves 6.5 ft. :wow: At least the water is somewhat warm at 77 degrees!!!
