We are leaving tommorrow on a Skipper Bud's captain led cruise to Pentwater MI. Looks like 8 boats going. Then we are breaking off and looking at a little R & R in Frankfort, Manistee, and the Portage Point Inn. Looking at a slow pace and enjoying the destinations.

Have a great trip! Did Hammond -> Milwaukee -> Grand Haven -> Saugatuck -> Hammond for a week before the 4th. Had a great trip (and calm water to boot!). Enjoy & post pics when you get back! (Fuel seems to be higher $$ on the east side of the big lake). - Jeff

Per chance was that your 38DA I saw at PHYC Sunday or someone else's. If so, we would be neighbors next season when I move my boat there from the Des Plaines River.

Portage Point Inn - a great place to stay away from! We had reservations for two nights, the lady who took them said we "were in the book". We had fond memories from when we were there two years ago, very nice and peaceful.

This year we called in on our cell phone, no marine radio at the Inn. They told us to pull up to the wall and come in, which we did. No record of our reservation. The new 60 foot slips were packed with jet skis and jet boats, 6 to 10 per well. There is no harbor master, just hotel reservation clerk. He asked if we wanted to stay on wall. No power and no water and the lake is not a no wake zone, awful spot. He said he didn't know we needed hook ups. I asked about the marine radio, he said it was too costly to keep up; it broke a few months ago.

We left for Seng's Marina in Manistee. We were treated well, marina is nice, and Manistee is an OK stop for a day.
