Cruising Guide to Western Florida

Don't know if any of you have this cruising guide- it's full of information on the Florida Gulf side. It has info from "the big bend" all the way down to Flamingo. The latest edition is 2000, so some of the restaurant info may be a bit out of date. Always best to call first and make sure they are still there... However, it gives some great tips on navigating certain areas - perfect if you want to explore!

What would you recommend for best chartbook and cruising guide for Ft Myers to Keys to Ft Lauderdale, Bahamas and then i'm heading north to SC.

Richardson's for the chartbook? Think i will be using C-map for the electronic.

Cruising guides? More of a marina guy versus anchor.

I think that the latest edition is from 2004, not 2000. If I remember correctly, he published it right before Charley hit the area.

I have found it to be pretty useful since he includes web sites in his write-ups.

You can also check his "cruising news" section on his website, which is more current than the book. You can also just ask on CSR - you will probably get an answer with current information.

Not sure what number edition it is, but it's the 2004 edition. A brand new edition is coming out in the spring, so you are best to wait a few months to get the latest and greatest one.

What do you recommend for a good chartbook?

Going to spend a couple months in Ft Myers and want to hit all the places from there down to the Keys.

Great Lakes boater here and used Richardson's for the chartbook and like either Port of Call or Lakeland for the guides.
