Do the portable hatch AC units really work good?

Any pros / cons before I spend some $$$

They work great - they can turn a mid-size cruiser into a deep freezer in mid-summer.

Cons: Big and bulky to store when not is use. Somewhat heavy to handle on deck. A lot of complaints about condensation dripping on whatever is directly underneath.

It made my puzzle real easy when comparing $3,000 for installation vs. $700-$800 carry-on. I was lucky enough to find a used one in perfect condition for $400.

The unit does a very good job. If you ok with it's weight and starage discomfort it'll keep you cool on the hot and humid days. It saved several weekends for us last season. It would of been no fun with 1 year old baby on board if we didn't have the a/c.

Alex.

:smt043 I just posted about that cooler thing on another site I belong too. I have to really wonder if it works...

I am trying to get a price on it.

They are pretty adamant about not using dry ice. Huh?
Sounds like a great product though, if even just to take the blistering heat out of the cabin and cool it down to normal temps.

Gettin lots done on the boat
Got to love heated storage.
Starting to buff this weekend
