Powered it off and back on, message was gone. Manual says it may indicate, page 15, "Loss of gas; or water too cold for heating during heat mode.'

Has anyone had this message just come up at random sometimes?

If someone at CR has encountered this fault, what was your fix? Adding gas?

Thanks

Either the unit is low on refridgerant or the low pressure switch will not stay closed heat mode because the outside water temp is too cold.

Well...here's one instance where the new signature requirement sure does come in handy......OP is in Florida...I doubt the water is too cold........(but it's still good to have the extra info for us cold weather boaters)

Yeah, I figured I'd post both sides just in case! Damn Florida boys! Wish we had your weather up here right now.

I agree with you... I did not specifically add it in here in this case as it has been under my signature for ages "Jacksonville, FL", even before the new changes were made.

Check ur air filter. Prior to the failure how long was the a/c unit in question running ?
Thinking it might have iced up.

Would u have noticed if the air flow was severly decreased ?

Not always a cut and dry answer..

The unit was very low on refrigerant or whatever they are calling the stuff they use in this unit. The marina charged the system today so now I will have to watch and wait and see.

This unit has worked good since I purchased the boat last August 30, 2008.

Now my question if it leaks down again where do I go from here? If it were to leak down I would prefer a larger line be leaking. But, what if it is a coil? Would that mean having to replace the complete unit? Or is are there reasonable methods of repair at a fair price available?

Anyone here been there done that?

Thanks

I'm in Houston and mine does that when I turn the Heat on, it goes away by itself a minute or so. Never seen it in Cool mode though.

You are probably just encountering the later condition

I will be testing for the next few days starting this afternoon. My marina just used a snifffer on it added about a half pound of coolant, and lightened my wallet about $115.00

I hope I am not going to be hearing that ..you know the sound a fishing reel makes when a hard and fast hit happens.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggggg

I got the same message yesterday, when I turned the heat on. Our lake water is mid to upper 60's...so not too cold...yet. The unit ran fine, but when I tried to increase the fan speed, the message appeared. After a couple of minutes it was fine....and I could increase the fan speed and had nice warm air. Is this normal with cooler water? Any ideas?

I had the PS LO error and it was low Freon. Took 4 oz and now its like an icebox on board.

One other thing the tech told me how important it is to flush the water lines once a month. I guess I'll take his advice.

I had the same thing happen when I bought my boat 10yrs ago. The dealer topped up the system, but the issue reappeared within a month. These are closed systems. If they're down in refrigerant they have a leak somewhere.

In my case the unit was removed and taken to a rad shop. There, they removed all the electrical components, charged the system up, then dunked it in a tank of water and watched for bubbles. There was a leak in one of the copper end cap joints along the side of the evaporator. It was re soldered then the unit was dunked again - no bubbles. Just to ensure it was good they added a pressure gauge and left it overnight to see if there was any drop. Once verified as good they ensured that the unit was filled properly with freon and ran it on the bench for a bit (using an attached hose to run cooling water through it).

Before it went the the rad shop, I paid an A/C place to "bench test" the unit. They said that their "sniffer" detected freon all over the bottom of the condenser, so it was shot and the unit was toast... oh and gave me their bill for the diagnosis. Turns out, the A/C place knew little about marine air units. I think the leaking freon was heavier than air and collected in the tray which was picked up by their "sniffer".

Good luck with it!
