Hey all, Im in the process of decking my boat out for spring and recent bought the lowrance elite 7 chartplotter/fish finder. I should have done more research on the dimensions of how big this sucker is but I found a good deal on it and pulled the trigger. This thing is massive and I dont want to admit defeat and send it back for a smaller one, I want to be creative and make it work.

Mounting it flush on the dash or on top of it is out

Fabricating a custom piece of plastic to screw into the cup holder corner is doable but would be clunky

I could build a custom box to put in between the seat and the starboard side of the boat and screw it on top of that

My last consideration is to screw it into the floor right in front of the drivers seat. it wouldnt effect leg room, but it wouldnt be ideal to have to take my eyes off driving to look down at the plotter so in my eyes that idea is out too.

Anybody come up with any cool ideas in the past I might borrow?

Thanks guys

I did your second option but with a much smaller Garmin 441s. I just bought a round plastic electrical box cover and used it. Still haven't gotten around to trimming it for a much more flush look. But its been working great for 5 years. Here is a link to the picture in another thread: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.ph...amp-Answers-or-just-chat!?p=391404#post391404

One popular approach its to buy Ram Mounts stuff that clamps it to the post holding up the windshield. Others have posted pics of that setup, but you'd have to search for them.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I looked up the sea sucker and ram mounts and I ordered a ram due to it was half the price and got solid reviews. Sea sucker makes a bunch of cool mounts for random things that I didnt know about, maybe I'll need something in the future. I'll post an update when the ram comes in
